Exploded View is a wondrous mystery to me, lyrically rich with esoteric secrecy, offering restrained glimpses into their world, leaving me wanting to uncover more; to fully comprehend. That’s part of their charm, part of their DNA, and a reason why repeated attendance to future shows is required.
Not surprisingly, the Empty Bottle was an ideal setting for Thursday night’s show, with its low lighting, utilitarian backdrop, and no-frills atmosphere, it complimented Anika’s hauntingly beautiful stage presence. With a synth-heavy approach that oscillates between ethereal wave and dream pop, Exploded View kept fans transfixed with celestial sounds found in “No More Parties in the Attic”, “Orlando”, and “Dark Stains”.
