Lake Street Dive Brings Their Soulful Sound to Riviera Theatre

“Free Yourself Up” is Lake Street Dive’s current album release, and a joy to experience the group perform singles from it live as they flexed their genre-bending expertise Saturday night at The Riviera. It would be unfair for me to cite the depth of the group’s versatility and breadth of style, as I would quickly run out of breath in trying. A bit easier to say that while Lake Street Dive traversed across the jazz, country, classic rock, soul and LoFi- funk spectrum, I was acutely aware of their influences, and in immediate awe of how their reverence of it unfolded in their collective vision, sound, and presence, that is uniquely their own.
