The Japanese House Makes Thalia Hall Home for a Night
Amber Bain a.k.a. The Japanese House at Thalia Hall.
Amber Bain’s first full-length LP, “Good at Falling” was released on March 1, 2019, and the British singer-songwriter, also known as The Japanese House arrived on Tuesday night in Chicago to promote the highly personal, emotionally rich release.
Keeping a rainy night outside at bay and an electrified Thalia Hall enthralled, Bain oscillated between synth-pop, surf and folk-tronica to the delight of her fans, flowing between genres seamlessly and in dreamlike fashion. "Maybe You're The Reason", "I Saw You in a Dream" and "Lilo" are tributes to hurtful experiences and inspirationally, finding herself eventually on the other side of healing.
Sheltered from the rain, it’s difficult to know who found the most solace from the elements, Bain or her fans, but for a night, they both found a cozy venue to call home.
