Courtney Barnett Bids Farewell to North America at Taste of Chicago
Courtney Barnett headlines at Taste of Chicago.
Courtney Barnett’s appearance at the Taste of Chicago, allowed foodies of all types, to enjoy her song-writing relatability, boundless energy, and a crunchy, guitar-driven performance, all in support of her third album release, “Tell Me How You Really Feel”.
Fans swelled towards the stage barricade to glimpse Barnett’s winsome smile up close and were treated to songs from her current album, including “Nameless, Faceless”, “Walking on Eggshells” and” “Crippling Self Doubt and a General Lack of Self Confidence”, which explores themes of fear, hate, and uncertainty. Barnett’s message is not lost amidst the riffs and solos within her music but is in lock-step with her compassion and understanding for humanity which resonates brightly, keeping the melancholic moments at arm’s length, but aspirationally in check.
As Barnett’s final North American show ended, she was given a large, makeshift card, signed from fans wishing her the best as she heads back to her native land of Australia. A token fan gesture, but one that reflects the kindness, bravery, and empowerment that Barnett’s music embodies.
