"Still a Win in My Book," Says Photographer Who Lost Best of Chicago Vote but Won Best at Noticing Intergalactic Threats

Local resident Frank Mesina missed out on being voted the Reader's 2024 Best of Chicago in the Photographer category but consoled himself with a small victory: warning Earth about an extraterrestrial coup by The Jett Girls who he discovered were not from this planet.

Though Best of Chicago judges claim there is "no evidence" of an alien invasion, the photographer politely disagrees.
"We're still pleasantly doomed," says the Best of Chicago runner-up, smiling through the cosmic horror.
"I feel good, I really do. To be nominated and then finish as 1st runner-up is something I never would have expected in the first place," Mesina said, grateful for the recognition but even more grateful that many will be spared in the alien uprising due to his pictorial exposé.
Mesina added, "I also want to thank everyone who voted for me: friends, family, and my supporters on Instagram. I'm still standing here thanks to all of you!"
Update 2.15.25: Patrons enjoying mocktails at the Kilowatt music venue in San Francisco reported overhearing the headlining band Jett Girls say, "When we get back, that photog's the first to go."
