Seeing Sunflower Bean again was surreal, especially because the gap between shows was the longest I've had with any band. I remember their roots in NYC, and seeing them now was reconnecting with part of my photography past. Julia Cumming, on bass, has always been a force on stage. Also a model, her performance mirrors the same energy and grace she brings to her fashion work, every movement deliberate yet effortless.
Photographing Julia in 2019 completely changed how I approach shooting bands.
