Bonus Snõõper exposition dump!

Saturday was a night of firsts.
There's something special about seeing a band live you've followed for years. That resolved sense of longing finally finding closure at the end of an encore. But. What about a band you've only discovered a mere 4 months ago? The anticipation can be as white hot, full of Songkick searches and daily visits to venue sites.

Leave it to the auteurs at the Empty Bottle to bring TWO artists into our winter backyard, for a personal first time viewing, in Snõõper and Special Interest.
Other firsts this weekend included a trip to Cole's Bar to take in another set from Snõõper (loving typing in these cheeky õ's). This time in a comfortable back room that squarely sneers at the February night by raising temperatures indoors, sweaty patrons aplenty. Also sat on a stool to shoot 98% of the show. I may have just buried the lede.
It's also the first time I shot the same band on the same day/night at various venues. After shows aren't new, but to me it may as well have been Christmas with a dollop of the Cubs winning the only series that counts. On the same day. (Easy, baseball fans)
What's not a first? Poorly structured posts due to the half life giddiness I'm coming off of seeing Blair Tramel and Snõõper for the first time. Twice. An embarrassment of riches indeed.
Finally, I used a flash at a show for the first time. Felt like a heathen, but when at Cole's do as they do. Illuminate some of the best talent out there.
