Schuba's Tavern hosted smut's second local sighting in under a month, which given their newfound Chicagoan status, is pleasantly no surprise.
Schuba's is a perfect venue for smut, with crisp acoustics, close quarters, and lighting that pairs with their shoegaze sound and brings out an approachability to their stage presence.
Piquing the crowd's collective mind (or maybe just mine) was whatever lyrical magic (or grocery list?) Tay Roebuck was entering in a journal prior to elevating into the group's songstress. The Schubas faithful took note as well of Roebuck's charismatic act, and responded in kind, eventually with a rising wave of appreciation and friendly recognition.
Many fans seemed to be personally connected to the group, lending even more charm, and familial intimacy to the environment, drawing multiple smiles amongst the band.
