SCARLET DEMORE

It's no wonder local venues are booking Scarlet Demore any chance they get within just the recent past and not too distant future. Saturday night found the artists this time, once again at Schubas Tavern. The word is out there, and the venues and punk paraders are responding in kind with heartfelt revelry.

Fronted by Cat Ayala's pop punk inspired vocals and her high voltage, ricocheting stage presence, and backed by her mates' ability to govern the riff and beats running through the show goers' collective veins.

This was the second time I've seen them in a relatively short amount of time. Last month at their Beat Kitchen show, I remember thinking how the local music scene here is taking a turn for the better, with diverse and non-homogeneous acts like Scarlet Demore, taking a part in heralding in a well needed age of stylish creativity, provocative sound, and just plain unassailable fun, which for the second time in as many shows, overheated my camera's gasping attempts to keep up.

See what Chicago needs more of. .
