GULLY BOYS

The return of Gully Boys to Chicago was a neighbor storming in to see what's up, more than a tender homecoming. The last time I photographed them, they had an undeniable spark, a vibrant energy that made their grunge-pop shine. But this time, there was a gravity to their presence, a grit that made their music hit harder.

GULLY BOYS — 1

They weren't just playing; they were controlling the stage with a confidence that felt fully realized.

Kathy Callahan, at the forefront, sang with each lyric carrying the punch of someone who knew exactly how to stir the crowd. She had a punk cadence, both in how she delivered each word and how she moved, unpredictable and sharp.

GULLY BOYS — 2

She ignited the crowd without effort, her aesthetic a perfect match for the unfiltered energy she radiated.

The chemistry between the bandmates was seamless, an unspoken rhythm that bound them tighter than ever. Their set wasn't just fun, every song a rallying cry. Shared moments between them and the audience. They played off each other with an effortless dynamism, each member feeding into the next, amplifying their collective charm.

The Gully Boys weren't just back, they were hungrier than ever, with an undeniable presence that made it clear: this wasn't just another Minneapolis band. This was a band in their prime, playfully dangerous and they made sure Chicagoans knew it.
