CREEPING CHARLIE

Nothing beats live music on a Monday night, and Creeping Charlie turned what could have been a weary start of the week into something more luminous at the Empty Bottle last night.

CREEPING CHARLIE — 1

The quartet sounded even more introspective than usual. Maybe it was the intimate weeknight crowd or the venue's cozy atmosphere drawing everyone closer. What's never in question is the effect of Julia's Eubanks' vocals in any venue's mood. Always a thoughtful delivery that puts me at ease more than any other vocal I regularly hear.

CREEPING CHARLIE — 2

Her finger-picking technique continues to evolve with each performance, (per usual, I'm far from an expert) but hearing it through electric strings rather than acoustic only amplifies its emotional impact for me.

Esmé's Eubanks' (👯‍♀️) bass lines provided the perfect counterpoint to the jangle in the air when needed, and her understated stage presence threaded subtle whimsy throughout the set providing effortless opportunities as always, to capture portrait worthy images.
