CLICKBAIT

Clickbait, led by Sandra Yau, is another standout in Chicago's vibrant music scene. Their sound, a bold mix of punk with 80s-inspired art rock and new wave, sets them apart from the usual. The B-52's come to mind, but Clickbait is carving their own path with a unique, colorful energy that's hard to match. Sandra's wild, outlandish stage presence kept me glued to the performance, always wondering what her next move would be. Between taking corded phone calls, playing with multiple percussion bells and whistles, and flashing the almighty cymbals, she rooted me to my spot, even making me pause my shutter to take in her one-of-a-kind approach.

The venue was small, making the performance feel more like a house party than a traditional show, which only added to the thrill. I love those intimate spaces where the energy is so immediate, with the chance of getting your foot squashed by a performer always in the air. Sandra has always been incredibly generous with her time, art, and music, and I'm eager to see what they create next.
