Armed with fully realized artistry, transcendent vocals and vision, Caroline Polachek's long-awaited return to Chicago easily captured the hearts and minds of all lucky enough to be at Thalia Hall Friday night.

She hasn't mastered the gift of flight yet, but stay tuned.

In 2016, I shot my first show at the now defunct Double Door, which featured Caroline as a foundling member of Chairlift. The last image shown here is from that show, which taught me that no matter how challenging concert lighting can be, it's a persona like Caroline's that can illuminate one's most underexposed experiences.
